Some days I don’t feel like smiling. Stemming from old-fashioned self-pity, it happens when a warm, wet blanket of confusion sweeps in unexpectedly. There is rarely much reason to explain the feeling and its joyous absence is just as remarkable. However, today’s grin is extra wide and not just because I’m sitting in the Conde Nast cafeteria enjoying coq au vin among a bevy of beautiful editors and superstars.

Feel good, look good. Feeling good comes first. Let’s be honest, it’s hard be the master of my universe while swimming in debt or even worse, while wearing something ugly. And how is it that something that was beautiful 3 years ago is so atrocious now? It’s a good designer, beautiful fabric, my size hasn’t really changed and I did not get it on sale. I need to hide this evidence, and quick. An expensive fashion blunder feels is akin to a con job only this time I was seduced by a very comely supermodel with the benefit of Photoshop. Oh, the delusions of grandeur.
