On Competition

I’ve always wanted to be perfect.  It just seemed like such a great goal, giving me a proper challenge to work toward daily.  Becoming a stylist suited my deep desire to participate in perfection.  Supers, haute couture and now Photoshop, Oh Boy.  Working behind the scenes gave me a special connection to The Ideal, made better knowing that my styling secrets were tucked safely into a bag of tricks.  It’s make-believe anyway,  a photograph meant to excite, provoke and inspire, right?  But often this drive to perfection ended with an insatiable need to compete.  Mastering the details of grooming, image and femininity translates for many into being in control of life.  Image-a-rexic I call it.

The Rules of Fashion Spending

Feel good, look good.  Feeling good comes first. Let’s be honest, it’s hard be the master of my universe while swimming in debt or even worse, while wearing something ugly. And how is it that something that was beautiful 3 years ago is so atrocious now? It’s a good designer, beautiful fabric, my size hasn’t really changed and I did not get it on sale. I need to hide this evidence, and quick. An expensive fashion blunder feels is akin to a con job only this time I was seduced by a very comely supermodel with the benefit of Photoshop. Oh, the delusions of grandeur.

Fashion Week Low Key Power Dressing

When others chose maxi-heels, I want kitten-booties.  Where they flaunt furs and bold printed dresses, I demure in soft brown corduroys.  Low-key has a distinct voice and a is convincing argument even during Fashion Week.   It’s coming up fast, beginning February 8th.  Boyfriend jeans, brogues, and  soft cardigans are the staples of my arsenal, and a warrior spirit to conquer the madness.  Stay tuned for full coverage with my new best friend, the Cannon S100.
